國立臺灣師範大學數學系林福來名譽教授，是推動臺灣中小學生數學、科學素養的重要推手，更是將重要國際學習趨勢帶進台灣的數學大師。他長期致力於我國數學教育的推動與發展工作，曾任師大數學系主任、臺灣數學教育學會理事長、行政院國家科學委員會科教處處長、The International Group for the Psychology of Mathematics Education（IGPME）主席、遠哲科學教育基金會常務董事、《科學教育學刊》創刊總編，並創辦科學與數學教育國際期刊（International Journal of Science and Mathematics Education, SSCI期刊），對數學與科學教育的政策制訂與推動著墨甚多。

林福來教授曾於1987、1989、1991、1993年，四度獲得行政院國家科學委員會傑出研究獎肯定，也於2011年榮獲中華民國科學教育學會終身成就獎，並於2016年榮獲東亞科學教育學會傑出貢獻獎(DRA)。林福來教授於2016-2017接任國立臺灣師範大學數學教育中心主任（校級），在2017年退休後榮膺國立臺灣師範大學數學系名譽教授，兼任國立臺灣師範大學數學教育中心顧問，同時也擔任遠哲科學教育基金會董事長，持續為數學教育作出貢獻。林福來教授不僅在數學教育領域享有國際盛名，在國內更作育無數英才，近年更力推數學奠基教育以及倡導教育者也是學習者的數學教育的本質，在我國的數學教育發展過程中扮演著關鍵的角色。今年台灣數學教育學會授予林福來教授終身成就獎，實至名歸。
